The ministry of helps is a supernatural ministry set in the church by God according to I Corinthians 12:28. Many find fulfillment, spiritual growth, enjoyment and even new relationships as a Ministry of Helps volunteer. We ask that you prayerfully consider where you should work in the fulfillment of your vision.
Ministry of Helps Characteristics
- Willingness to serve-having a desire to serve.
- A proper attitude – this goes beyond you willingness to serve. It’s how or the way in which you carry out the task that you have been assigned.
- Accountability-in your servant hood –Making sure the task is done at all cost. If you are unable to perform the task personally, you make it your responsibility to find someone who will do the job as well or better than you. It is not enough to just call someone and say, “I am not going to show up”.
- Diligence in you serving. Not stopping until the task is completed.
- “Consistency” or constant in your serving. Remaining the same.
- “Submission” in your serving. Yielding your will to the will of the set authority, i.e., the Pastor
- “Commitment” Willing to change your plans to keep your vow. When serving, commitment is not commitment until it passes the test of commitment.
- “Understanding Boundaries” – operating where God has placed you. Roman 12:3 says not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think.
- “Standard” – doing things God’s way; Your Pastor’s way, not you own way.
- “A Life of Prayer” – you must establish a consistent prayer life. Consistently praying for your pastor, his family and the ministry.
All of the above characteristics reflect and lead to one thing, which is making sure your heart is right towards God.
